Ambassador Alan L. Timbayan was appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, to the State of Qatar in September 2016.   The Chief of Mission joined the Philippine Embassy in Doha in March 2017 and is the seventh Philippine Ambassador to the state.

A seasoned diplomat, he has been serving abroad since the late ‘80s.  He previously served as Philippines Labor Attaché in three different Foreign Service posts, namely in Jeddah (from 1987 to 1990), in Riyadh (from 1990 to 1994), and Osaka, Japan (from 1996 to 2003).  He is also the recipient of numerous awards and commendations given by public and private groups and institutions.
