 AMBASSADOR ALFONSO VER

Ambassador Alfonso Ver likes to interact personally with the Filipino community, oftentimes mingling directly with the clients at the Embassy and helping out any way he can to get a first-hand assessment of what they think and feel. Early in his post in Bahrain, he sensed a renewed vigour and enthusiasm from both the Embassy team and the Filipino community, brought about by the exciting new level of collaboration between Bahrain and the Philippines. This included the amnesty program implemented by the Bahrain government and a campaign designed to showcase Philippine culture. “I look forward to expanding and strengthening all aspects of relations and mutually-beneficial ties between the Philippines and Bahrain,” he says. “This includes new initiatives in expanding Philippine-Bahrain economic relations, fostering greater exchange and cooperation in trade investments, tourism, as well as cultural and educational exchanges. At the same time we shall continuously strive to do our best to respond to the needs of the Filipino community in Bahrain – from rendering efficient consular services to the promotion of their welfare and protection of their rights.”

These programs, of course, are not without its share of challenges. The Embassy often has to contend with limited budgets and legal and operational constraints, but Ambassador Ver believes that these propel them to work even harder. “I am glad that in the face of these challenges, I have a team composed of members ready and willing to help each other out towards our shared vision and commitment to serve the Filipinos in Bahrain.”

His message to the Filipino community: “We in the Embassy stand as your partners and will remain committed to the protection of your interests and rights as you try to do your best day-in-and-day out to achieve all the hopes and dreams for yourselves and your families back home.”
