Mark Ganzon – Illustrado 300 Most Influential Filipinos Legacy Edition 2020

Tastemaker – Mark Ganzon

Fashion Photographer & Filmmaker

Dubai based visual artist, photographer and filmmaker Mark Ganzon documents the rarely seen backstage of Dubai’s glamorous fashion industry. Capturing the vibe, drama, and emotion of the hottest labels and events, he has done collaborations with Vogue Arabia, Fashion Forward, MAC Middle East, Dolce & Gabbana, and more.

“The pivotal moment of my career was my very first campaign for MAC Middle East,” he says. “From then on, it’s been one blessing after the other. There were times that things got tough, but giving myself no excuse to make something happen was always that significant highlight.”

From doing fashion campaigns to having portrait sessions with celebrities and exploring the back end of the biggest fashion houses in the world, Mark credits failure as one of his biggest motivators to success. “I would really recommend that people spread out and make mistakes on their own. And I mean literally fail. Learning one thing from another person is one thing, but learning through your own mistakes is another.”  He also adds, “Expand beyond the Filipino-centric groups and learn from other nationalities, as well. Standards are built to be broken anyway. In this day and age of digital photography, where everyone can be a ‘photographer’ just because they can afford a camera, being able to stand out is key.”
