As a Filipino who came to the UAE with the mere intention of providing for his family, Rolly Brucales has gone a long way. Since opening Off the Hook Seafood Restaurant three years ago, the brand has become a household name and now operates six branches in the emirates. On top of this, Rolly runs several other businesses, including Rock Built, a construction company, and Global Connect, a recently formed travel and tours agency. On the business landscape, Rolly shares: “Gone are the days when Filipinos were considered secondary citizens. Our community has witnessed the rise of individuals who have stepped out of the box and created a name for themselves. Regardless of who we are and where we come from, I believe that we can elevate ourselves as a nation and as a community by working together towards excellence.”

Being an entrepreneur, Rolly attests, is a tough job, but one that he is most proud of.  He says, “Not only is it a career.  It’s a commitment. A commitment to serve my team as their leader. A commitment to inspire our community. And a commitment to bring the best and most appropriate way of serving our customers.”   Above all, Rolly highlights the sheer importance of love in his work: “In our organization, we exercise a strong culture of unity. We are a family. We are an organization that looks after each other with respect combined with a genuine love for our work and the company.”
