Ella Orencillo – Illustrado 300 Most Influential Filipinos in the Gulf

Tastemaker – Ella Orencillo

Artist and Illustrator

In a male-dominated industry, artist and illustrator Ella Orencillo stands out with her own unique brand of art.  Part of the Filipino movement that popularized urban art in the UAE, Ella’s work has graced some of the hippest art events in and out of the country.

Some of her past projects include Project:MEGA, Proyecto Baetulona (Barcelona, Spain), Worlds Together, 3 Keez of Illustration, SoleDxb’s Sneaker Summit, Ninh Nguyen Fashion Show (NY, USA), Spraygraphics, Fill in the Groove (Arizona, USA), Virgin Megastore’s 10th Anniversary, FAKIE2, Genius, and Chocol’art and the Olympic Mural for the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi.  Ella was also shortlisted in the Sheikah Manal’s Young Artist Award in 2011 and was a finalist at New Era Introducing 2011.  In 2012, she began her shoe customization career at the “The Personalization Hub” at the Dubai Mall, and created at Al Ghurair Centre for the Nike #weplayDXB campaign.

Currently, Ella is busy running her business, ‘Craftology by Ella Orencillo,’ where she creates works of art on shoes.  Ever the modest artist, she shares, “The company is new and I feel like I am just starting to find my niche in the Filipino community,” she says. “But it makes me truly happy knowing that different agencies, events companies and brands continue to trust me to provide a service to them.”
