Being one of the hottest stylists in the region, with an excellent portfolio of collaborations with A-listers, celebrities as well as renowned brands, Gweys Soriano doesn’t only work in the glamorous world of fashion, she has also poured her talents into giving back to the community. “Within the styling and fashion sector itself, the greatest way forward is collaboration instead of competition,” she says.

Among her many laurels in 2019, the fashion guru has led the styling and design teams for various personalities such as Mariah Carey, singer-actress Azza Zarour, and Filipino celebrities like Janine Gutierrez and Rocco Nacino. She has also worked with brands like Tiffany & Co, Marli & Highstreet Jewelry, Nivea & Lobello, Dolce & Gabbana, and many others. Gweys has also delivered a styling workshop in Manila and collaborated with international models and a US Vogue photographer in Hong Kong for a project that’s soon-to-be-released in 2020.

With her knowledge and industry expertise, she recently opened the Miranda George School of Style, holding semi-annual workshops to enable other like-minded individuals to learn about personal styling. For Gweys, this is her way of giving back. She says, “My gifts or talents are purposely created not just for myself but to help those around me. They are given to be shared with others.”

Gweys Soriano

Stylist – Dubai, UAE

Much like the fashion she dons, daring Gweys Soriano is one of Dubai’s hottest rising stylists du jour.  She has been a fixture for some prominent styling projects this year. Working alongside Law Roach – America’s Next Top Model judge and celebrity stylist to Zendaya and Celine Dion – as well as styling glamorous German-Turkish actress Meryem Uzerli for a jewelry campaign, were definite highlights. Parallel to this, Gweys was also a speaker at the esteemed international style forum ‘Simply,’ and even had the opportunity to work under Create Consultancy – a celebrity and designer agency that bridges the gap between the Middle East and the Hollywood – for the styling aspect of a Nicki Minaj music video.

Gweys, who rose from mere OOTDs as a style influencer, has a certification in editorial, commercial, and catwalk styling from Central Saint Martin’s London.  She is also a co-founder at the Style Curators Dubai and is the resident fashion stylist and personal shopper at Fashion Avenue, Dubai Mall; a job that entails styling and shopping for the UAE’s most fabulous high-profile visitors.

A part of the new breed of young Filipinos making headway in the region’s thriving but super competitive fashion industry, Gweys says Pinoys should not be shy in getting what they want: “Get your face out there. Don’t just build networks, but build relationships as well as a personal brand. We Filipinos have so much to offer – the world needs to see what we can do.”
