Uniting the Filipino community’s many groups and managing them to function effectively together to execute the biggest community event in the history of the UAE is a huge undertaking for any leader – one that community champion Josie Conlu has undertaken with much aplomb.

Born to lead, Josie is the Chairperson of the Philippine Independence Day (PID) Organizing Committee 2019 – hailed by the Filipino as its most professionally managed event to date, which has also garnered the largest public attendance in PID history. As Chairperson of the Bayanihan Festival Organizing Committee 2019, Josie also brokered the unprecedented partnership between TFC and Bayanihan, which combines two prominent community events as one – the Dubai Barrio Fiesta Bayanihan 2019.

Aside from those triumphs, Josie, who has been a community leader for years, earnestly works to share her knowledge and expertise in leadership, while also promoting local SMEs via social media. She has been mentoring many Filipinos under the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers & Associates Toastmasters Club and the Emirates NBD Toastmasters Club.  Josie is also the founder of the Oryx Gavel Club, an affiliate of Toastmasters International, a platform where individuals aged 10-18 can develop their leadership and public speaking skills.
