Thoughtleader: Manuel Almario
Journalist
The Community Editor of Gulf News for the past two decades, Manuel Almario has written numerous human-interest stories that have touched the lives of readers in the UAE and beyond. Manuel also currently manages the Complaints Section at the Editorial Department, wherein readers can lodge their grievances related to organizations that offer a public service such as telecom providers, banks, housing, the health sector, and government departments, and is also part of the publication’s Social Media team, keeping an eye out for breaking news and exclusive stories.
“This job is very fulfilling knowing that I am involved in a way to resolve people’s issues,” he says. “More so, it is very rewarding when the complainant appreciates my efforts to solve their case. It gives me great joy being of service to the community.”
He also shares, “As journalists, we have to be well-versed. We must research well and present accurate information, write interesting articles and features that update and influence public opinion. We should always read and learn the current state of affairs, and we have to present the news in an honest and balanced way.”
