Thoughtleader – Nelita Villezon
Fitness Pro and Model
Filipina-American model and fitness professional Nelita Villezon grew up learning martial arts under her father, martial artist Erwin Villezon. Trained in a multitude of self-defense techniques like Muay Thai, Wushu, Eskrima, and Arnis, as well as in dance and fitness, she grew into one of the top fitness professionals who has trained, coached and managed at some of the leading gyms in Los Angeles, California.
She launched her own athletic clothing brand in the USA in 2014, which later became successful among celebrities like singer Becky G, Robyn Anton creator of the Pussy Cat Dolls, and actors like Karrueche Tran and Columbus Short. At the same time, she also started her own charitable organization called the Rooftop Project which raised funds to provide homes and living supplies for families in need in the Philippines.
Relocating to Dubai in recent years, Nelita opened a new venture in 2019, called ‘Dance Body Dubai,’ combining fitness and dancing within an energetic environment, bringing her own world-class brand of training to the emirates.
Proud of her roots, Nelita says, she always makes sure to represent Filipino culture well in everything that she does and to help preserve our arts. “I am one of the only people that teaches our art of arnis here in the Middle East. I think it is important to preserve our culture as well as educate others on the diverse talents of Filipinos.”
