Vice Consuls Lemuel Lopez & Sheila Mae Briones – Illustrado 300 Most Influential Filipinos in the Gulf

Vice Consul Lemuel Lopez

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Empowering Saudi Arabia’s Filipino communities has always been at the center of  ’s work. In his advocacy towards a united community, he single-handedly established and operated Jeddah PCG’s in-house Contact Center, providing a hotline for support to OF’s – the first of initiative of its kind, which also helped the PCG in Jeddah win the Department of Foreign Affair’s Best Organization Award last year. “Empowering Filipinos with the correct knowledge on how to deal with emergency situations and how the Saudi judicial and labor systems work could be a daunting task, but I am proud of that we have planted seeds through the work we have been doing at Jeddah PCG.”

Always the campaigner for unity towards mutual success, Vice Consul Lopez encourages Filipinos to see the bigger picture.  He shares, “Filipinos overseas should strive harder in uniting together not just in the face of danger and upheavals, but most especially during peace-time. Bickering over petty things has no place in the global milieu of the Filipino narrative.” He adds, “Fragmentation is the primary poison of the ‘Filipino Dream’ if there is one.”
