Most Influential Filipinos in the Gulf: Philippine Consulate – Dubai & the Northern Emirates
The Philippine Consulate General – Dubai and the Northern Emirates was established in 2004 to provide Consular services to the Filipino Community residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates of the UAE. This is a truly monumental task, as there are more than 450,000 Filipinos living in Dubai, each with their own catalog of legal and Consular concerns. “Being placed in charge of the Consular section was indeed a challenge as there were – and there still are – constraints in the number of personnel as well as equipment to adequately service the number of clients coming to the Consulate,” says Deputy Consul General Giovanni Endencia Palec who is supported by Consul Ferdinand Flores and Consul Ryan Pondoc. “The matter and mode of providing efficient and friendly services to our clientele remains a top priotrity for us as it constantly entails reviewing procedures and making changes to ensure that we are serving our kababayans in the smoothest and timeliest way possible. It is not and will not be an easy fix and there is still and will always be room for improvement.”
PCG Dubai has always maintained a culture of transparency and responsiveness to the concerns of its clients, hence they place great emphasis on keeping the lines of communication open for feedback. The Deputy Consul General says, “I’ve always maintained the view that one does not have a monopoly of good ideas so one ought to welcome other perspectives on how to improve the process or system.”
The Consulate General is currently reviewing plans for the improvement of its operational infrastracture, in line with its relentless focus on catering to the needs of its stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner.
