Dubai, UAE – At the recently concluded 10th Commencement Exercises of the Filipino Digerati Association (FDA), 150 Filipinas out of the 600 graduates pledged support to the ongoing “Pinays Take Charge” campaign spearheaded by Dubai-based Filipino lifestyle magazine Illustrado.
“Pinays Take Charge” campaign is in line with the Women of Substance event, Illustrado Magazine’s annual project for Filipina empowerment. The campaign seeks, not only to create a more positive image for Filipinas in the region, but also to assist in addressing problems and concerns relevant to Filipinas. It comes with a guideline of specific advices hoping to inform, educate and alert Filipinas on how to handle compromising situations. Filipinas who take the “Pinays Take Charge” pledge are accounted to follow and execute the campaign’s guideline.
The massive support from the graduates of the Filipino Digerati Association – a non-profit organization founded and organized under the auspices of Philippine Consulate General and POLO OWWA in Dubai with a mission of offering high-quality computing, office procedural, speaking and personal development programs that help students and members to further promote and advance careers in all professions – was an outstanding kick start to this awareness campaign.
Commenting on the support of FDA, Lalaine Chu-Benitez, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Illustrado, said: “We appreciate Digerati’s participation in this campaign and invite other Filipino organizations to promote the message of Pinay empowerment among their members as well, by carrying through the ‘Pinays Take Charge’ campaign. It’s a small step that could help a lot of people.”
Filipino Digerati Association’s President Lilian Bautista also commented, “I am proud when fellow Pinays make the “Pinays Take Charge Pledge” and use that for the benefit of those who really need help. If we can help somebody who’s struggling, then we’ve made a difference. We have a responsibility to help others in positive ways.”
The “Pinays Take Charge” Pledge, along with the documentary film “Filipina on Top” that premiered during the recently concluded Illustrado Women of Substance event, is slated to be circulated within the year across the UAE, the Middle East, the Philippines, and other parts of the world.
